Agreement
These terms apply to the EdShala website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated under the EdShala brand. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information, including when you sign in with Google.
The EdShala platform
EdShala is India's educational social network — a verified, distraction-free space where students, parents, mentors, counsellors, and institutions connect, share knowledge, join communities, and explore learning and career opportunities.
Features may include profiles, feeds, posts, media, groups, messaging, quizzes, mentorship tools, recommendations, notifications, and related educational content. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law to use the Service. You agree to:
- Provide accurate registration information and keep your profile and role details up to date.
- Use the account type that matches how you use the Service (for example, student, parent, or mentor).
- Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
- Use only one personal account per individual unless we explicitly allow otherwise.
If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your activity on the Service.
Acceptable use
EdShala is built for constructive learning and community. You agree not to misuse the Service. For example, you must not:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or discriminate against others, or post hateful, violent, or sexually exploitative content.
- Impersonate another person, misrepresent your qualifications, or create misleading mentor or institution profiles.
- Share unlawful content, infringe intellectual property, or distribute malware, spam, or deceptive schemes.
- Scrape, crawl, or automate access to the Service in violation of our rules or applicable law.
- Attempt to bypass security, access non-public areas, or interfere with the operation of the Service.
- Use the Service for unrelated commercial solicitation, political campaigning, or off-platform transactions that violate our policies.
Mentorship, guidance, and educational content
Mentors, counsellors, and other users may share opinions, experiences, and educational material onEdShala. Unless we expressly state otherwise, this content is for general informational and community purposes only.
- Content on the Service is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice.
- Exam strategies, career suggestions, and course recommendations reflect individual views and may not fit your situation.
- Verification or badges, where shown, indicate platform checks we apply — they do not guarantee outcomes, employment, or admission.
You are responsible for your own decisions and for evaluating any mentorship, marketplace listing, or third-party resource before you rely on it.
Communities, groups, and messaging
When you join groups, follow users, or send messages, your activity may be visible to other members according to product settings (for example, public groups vs private groups). Group admins and members may have additional rules; you must follow both those rules and these terms.
We may review reported content and take action — including removing content, restricting features, or suspending accounts — to protect users and the integrity of the platform.
Paid features and third parties
Some features — such as mentorship sessions, subscriptions, or marketplace offerings — may be paid or offered by third-party providers. Prices, refunds, and fulfilment for paid offerings may be governed by additional terms shown at checkout or by the provider's policies. EdShala is not responsible for third-party products or services you access through links or integrations unless we expressly agree in writing.
Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit (posts, comments, media, messages, profile information, and similar materials). To operate the Service, you grant EdShala a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and adapt your content solely as needed to provide features you use and to promote the Service in reasonable ways (for example, showing your public post in a feed).
You represent that you have the rights to submit your content and that it does not violate these terms or applicable law.
Our intellectual property
The Service, including the EdShala name, logo, design, and software, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited rights these terms grant, we do not transfer ownership or license to you.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably believe your use poses risk to other users or toEdShala. Where practicable, we will provide notice before termination for remediable violations.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties not expressly stated in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the extent permitted by law, EdShala and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim or (b) INR 5,000, except where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms or the Service, subject to any mandatory rights you may have in your place of residence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes become effective may constitute acceptance, unless applicable law requires a different process.
